“Everyone has the right to life, liberty and security of person”. Human rights are rights inherent to all human beings, whatever our nationality, place of residence, sex, national or ethnic origin, colour, religion, language, or any other status. We are all equally entitled to our human rights without discrimination. These rights are all interrelated, interdependent and indivisible.

The current security problems we face in the society today suggest that little or no interest is given to article 3 of this universal human right law . In our society today, it is not new to hear about cases of death due to molestation, abuse and neglect, the security of life in our society today is no longer guaranteed and people are denied of their liberty every day thereby posing against these laws that was made to nurse the life of every human being and also make the world a better place to be. Over the years, parents lose their sons and daughters to the helpless hand of this society that could not practice the article 3 as directed by law.
However, the people in the society also lack the knowledge that as a person we have the right to life, liberty and security. Often time, people are saddle to die without knowing that they have protection to live. People who understand that every human has the right to life, liberty and security makes it very difficult for others to understand to avoid been noticed of the advantages they have over others which is what I see as “Man’s inhumanity against man”.

Now, let’s talk about this side of the society, an entity called Nigeria. With these laws, more especially article 3, the primary objective of any government in any given society is to protect the life of her citizenry. The prose insecurity saga in Nigeria has made so many people to lose their life, people are dying every day, the society are preparing the crime and the criminals are committing it, which eventually leads to their death. Now the question is why are these laws not practised?.

In Nigeria today, people hardly say the truth because there is no freedom/protection. Corruption in other way round has taken grand of all the activities in the government thereby denying the government the sole responsibility and what they owe their citizenry. Nigeria, and several part of the world, people die of torture, molestation, abuse and neglect because this laws were not practised. Why should people be treated differently while exercising their human right? Why the cry in the society today and why should people lose their joy? Why should people die, if people should die how did they die? Why should the society pose a serious threat of insecurity to people? This are few of thousand of questions people ask everyday just to tell you that article 3 of Universal Human Right are neglected nor practised.

The important of this law in our society today can never be over emphasized, now, it is in the neglect of this law that a lot of menace is taking place in our society today and We need this human right law to protect life; we need this human right law to exercise our liberty, we need this human right law to be free from torture and other forms of molestation, abuse and neglect in the society. Above all we need this law to make the world comfortable and a better place to live.

In conclusion, the society need not only to implement this law but will also allow the people to exercise it. The people cannot continue to live an unprotected life while they are protected. The united nation who enacted these laws should always oversea that they are well practised. The society should also sensitize the people to understand their fundamental human right and ways of exercising them, hence we will all be happy, live together and share the light of the world.

YOUNG PEOPLE IN NIGERIA CAN DO WITHOUT CRIME

Crime is anyact or omission that violates a law which results in a punishment. These factor and pressure which includes the fast makingmoney by individuals in the society “Cyber Crime” is one of the brain behindthe reasoning. The society has compelled some young people in Nigeria to dowhat they feel is the fastest way to be rich and earn a good living, thereby encouragingthe greatest problem we face in this country (Crime and Corruption). Peers influencealso encourages these problems either by their actions or inactions, in our musicindustries today; we preach the negative message to our young people therebyenhancing the horizon and path in promoting this menace in our society.

However, I write toencourage you that we as young people can still do without crime. Young people in the world over are contributing theirown quota to the developmental processes of their respective nations, therebymaking the world a better place to live.

In Nigeria, however, the case is different. Youngpeople are given little or no representation in the nation’s structure. This isbecause some corrupt leaders would not want to be exposed in their corruptactivities if a young person is engaged with them. For instance, in ourpolitical and economical structures, young people are rarely found at the helmof affairs; simply because a young person will always nurse for change at alltimes and the corrupt ones would obviously resist the changes that bring theirnefarious activities to light.

Youth representation can be better improved if youthcan be adequately engaged in decision making both in the government and otherforms. Youth representation can also be promoted if youth will understand theneed to vote and be voted for during the election; this will give room foryoung people to be ably represented in government

Furthermore, young people should have an interest inthe politics of our nation, they should also understand the need forparticipation, and they should not have a lukewarm outlook on issues thataffects them.

Finally , a nation that has no plan for heryouths, who will take over the mantle of leadership from her as ambassadors oftomorrow should expect nothing but calamities at all time and should beready to face different forms of menace.

CALL FOR APPLICATION: VALUES AND LEADERSHIP SKILLS PROGRAMME

About LEAP Africa
Leadership Effectiveness Accountability Professionalism (LEAP) Africais a nonprofit organization, which is committed to developing dynamic, innovative and principled African Leaders.
Since 2004, LEAP has equipped over 20,000 youth between the ages of16-30years with skills and tools that they require to serve as effective changeagents in the society through its Youth Leadership Programme. Perhaps, the richest and the most abundant of these resources are the human resources. Unfortunately, we have often faced severe setback in our leadership system as a result of our inability to harness these enormous gifts of human treasures.
Regrettably, this has in no small measure contributed to the inexplicable spread of corruption and crimes of different forms in our societies, especially among the youths and school leavers.

In view of this, Youth Crime Watch of Nigeria, Ebonyi State Chapter – a Non Governmental Organization that is concerned with training youths on ways to assist in the campaign against Crimes in our societies has packaged this 1 day programme envisaged to revive our leadership system beginning from the grass root; young scholars in our Secondary Schools.
This project ‘Catch Them Young’ came from the motive and objectives aimed at re-orienting our students on the need for good governance and restoring self confidence in them as the surest way to prepare them as the future leadership of our country.

INTRODUCTION
Leadership problem in our societies calls for serious concern. This can be traced back to the poor foundation of leadership trainings and structures installed in our institutions of learning, especially during the formative stages of individuals. Evidence of this line of thought can eloquently be seen from the poor nature at which Secondary School Functionaries or Prefects are equipped after they have been selected in our Schools.

If you take a closer look in our Secondary Schools, you will agree with me that every year we keep rolling out new crops of young leaders with poor leadership qualities and skills. We make little or no effort to equip them with necessary trainings to enable them actualize the purposes for which they are selected. We keep blaming our circular leaders, yet we forget that we are directly responsible for the league of bad adult leaders we have proliferated all over our country today.
At the early stage of the development of a child, whatever is learnt by that child is believed to be accurate and thus he or she grows to in-culture it as a habit. It therefore calls for caution while training a child and this entails teaching them the appropriate things to do as leaders.

These days, it is no longer a surprise that most of the school children run away from responsibilities. Often times, they prefer to join illicit groups and gangs going about threatening their fellow students and even sometimes going as far as bullying and molesting them. Records have it that the rate of growth of juvenile delinquencies in our Secondary Schools today have tripled over the last decade and have continue to pose serious threat to the development of our children. While many equate information and communication technologies primarily with mobile and more advanced technologies, a more useful definition of information and communication technologies include all technologies that enable the handling of information and facilitate different forms of communication. By expanding the notion of information and communication technologies to include both older and newer technologies, from newspapers, radio and television to camcorders, cell phones, computers and network hardware and software, satellite systems and so on, as well as the various services and applications associated with them, such as videoconferencing and distance learning, the full positive and negative impact of ICT on the social development of youth can be better understood. It differs from the transplantation of larger trees in arboriculture, and from the lower cost but slower and less reliable distribution of tree seeds.
In silviculture the activity is known as reforestation, or afforestation, depending on whether the area being planted has or has not recently been forested. It involves planting seedlings over an area of land where the forest has been harvested or damaged by fire or disease or insects.
Tree planting is carried out in many different parts of the world, and strategies may differ widely across nations and regions and among individual reforestation companies. Tree planting is grounded in forest science, and if performed properly can result in the successful regeneration of a deforested area. Reforestation is the commercial logging industry's answer to the large-scale destruction of old growth forests, but a planted forest rarely replicates the biodiversity and complexity of a natural forest. Because trees remove carbon dioxide from the air as they grow, tree planting can be used as a geoengineering technique to remove CO2 from the atmosphere.
Project Description:
The project under consideration is designed to create awareness, educate as well as entertain the participants and the society at large.
The project will feature;
1. Planting of trees
2. Seminars/Workshops on climate Change
3.Photo Shots with participants and school management
4.An awareness rally

Objectives:
•To enhance environmental sustainability.
•To encourage youths to associate more on issues of environmental degradation and global warming.
•To freely distribute economic trees so as to increase the economy of the beneficiaries at the long run.
•To link young people and stake holders together and create an avenue for interactions in environmental related issues.

Project duration:
This project is envisaged to run for two (2) months so as to examine and evaluate the progress of the trees planted for this pilot phase.

<georss:box>6.2837688 8.045411500000023 6.382897799999999 8.154588500000022</georss:box>

NATIONAL TOLERANCE ACADEMY (NTA)

According to Newton’s law of motion, a body will remain in its state of rest except it is acted upon by a force. This force or act when applied brings about a CHANGE. Changes cannot happen if there is no ACT and an action cannot take place if there is no THOUGHT. I have been acted upon by Tolerance Academy and the Change is fast approaching as I am work towards it.

I thought it will never be a success when I saw the advert with the inscription clearly writhen Champions of the Society: Tolerance Academy free accommodation, free feeding and transport subsidy.

This was first of it all in this history of our nation were young scholars take responsibility to say no to religious crisis, cultural differences’ that brought about intolerance in our society.

It is not just an academy but another school of knowledge where conscience oriented and driven mindset brain storm to put an end in this menace in our society today.
Tolerance Academy did not only help me but rather will help my immediate society, because this knowledge gained will be passed from one generation to another which will bring a positive change in the society.

Tolerance Academy to me is an eye opener which will go a long way to impact knowledge and understanding to the people and will also inform those who are not informed on the need for tolerance and understanding in this great nation of ours.
The time for change is now, we can do it, and yes we can. Let us say no to intolerance, Religious crisis and understand that we are one, the Muslim and Christian came from one Abrahamic Faith and we worship one God. Peace and lasting security should always be the persistent objectiveof any government and her citizens. In the last five decades the world hasrecorded a tremendous progress in its developmental advancement in Science andTechnology and other innovations in various fields more than it has experiencedduring the entire human history, previous to this time. Through Science andTechnology our societies have benefited great and sophisticated transformationthus, the world is now called a global village.

However, all these advancements recorded by Scienceand Technology, the world are today confronted with a unique challenges asnever experienced before. Just as great pace of development is experienced inall aspects of life, so also the inexplicable explosion of crimes isencountered in our society on daily basis. The most appalling, being that quiteoften these crimes are perpetuated by youth (young people).

In Nigeria today and several parts of the world, it isno longer new to hear about incidences of crimes like; rape, cases of armedrobbery, fighting, pick pocketing, stealing, dangerous driving, driving withoutlicense, sexual abuses (homosexual, lesbianism, unprotected sex) illicit dressing, internet frauds, corruption of all kinds, smoking among the teens, exammalpractices, cultism, to mention but a few crimes and violent acts predominatewith young people in the world today.

In a bid to correct all these unpleasant, indiscriminate and ugly trends of misnomer in our society, you as a youngperson should be poised in educating and sensitizing the mindset of youth onthe need for a crime free, drug free and violence free society conducive forlearning and living, engage in values and leadership skills programmes, encourage and support individuals with moral courage and create a positivechange in your community/immediate environment. The change you need is withinyou, the time for change is now, we can do it, yes we can but it begins withyou.
